“The Marc Pease Experience“, starring Ben Stiller, Jason Schwatzman and Anna Kendrick, was released today with limited release in the following cities: Chicago, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Seattle, Miami, Denver, Tampa, Minneapolis and Cleveland. The movie, directed by Todd Louiso, centers around a former high school musical star, Marc Pease [Jason Schwatzman], finding himself still living in the past, eight years after graduation.
Christophe Beck’s first solo album begins shipping today. “Rubber Bug” is described as “an organic combination of driving electronic beats and addictive melodies”. Just two weeks after their first collaboration hit theaters, Christophe Beck and Chris Columbus have teamed up again for the upcoming fantasy film, “Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief“. Beck and Columbus first worked together on “I Love You, Beth Cooper” which was released on July 10th of this year. “Percy” is scheduled to be released in February of 2010.
After almost 25 years, “Beverly Hills Cops” was surpassed as the #1 R-rated comedy of all time by “The Hangover“. Just six weeks after its release, it has grossed more than $235M domestically, earning it the top spot, and it’s still going strong. This was Beck’s second endeavor with director Todd Phillips (following 2006’s “School for Scoundrels“).
Christophe Beck won the award for “Best Music Score” at the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy for “The Greatest“. The film, by Shana Feste, made its debut at the 2009 Sundance film festival.
On August 21, “Post Grad“, starring Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls) and Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights), will be released nationwide. Beck worked closely with director Vicky Jenson and veteran director/producer Ivan Reitman on this coming of age story. The soundtrack, featuring three pieces by Beck, will be released by Abkco Records in mid-August.
Chris Columbus’s “I Love You, Beth Cooper” gets its nationwide release today. The film, starring Hayden Panettiere and Paul Rust, is an adaptation of the book written by Larry Doyle. Shawn Levy and Christophe Beck will be working together again on the upcoming comedy “Date Night”, their fifth collaboration. The film has a star studded cast including Steve Carrell, Tina Fey, Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, James Franco, Mark Ruffalo and Ray Liotta. Entertainment Weekly asks, “Could the comedy’s cast get any better?!” Levy and Beck’s past projects include “The Pink Panther”, “Cheaper by the Dozen” and “Just Married”.
Christophe’s brother, musician and producer Gonzales broke the world record for the longest-ever solo concert Monday, successfully playing piano for 27 hours, three minutes and 44 seconds. The 37-yera-old Gonzales claimed the title from Guinness record-holder Prasanna Gudi of India, who had played raga for 26 hours and 12 minutes in December.
